Why Plymouth might be the best UK university town

As a vibrant seaside city, Plymouth is an exciting place to study and live in. Whether you like the hustle and bustle of city life or looking to live somewhere you can easily escape to the rural countryside and stunning beaches of Devon and Cornwall, Plymouth would be perfect for you. Home to multiple universities and colleges (including University of Plymouth and Plymouth Marjon University), the city hosts many students with a lively nightlight, great shopping, historical landmarks, and days out at the beach.

Known as Britain’s Ocean City, there is of course plenty of sights and attractions in the great outdoors. The Plymouth Hoe offers stunning views out across the English Channel or just outside of the city is the Dartmoor National Park, perfect for a day of hiking. Plymouth is also not short of fantastic beaches nearby; Wembury and Bovisands are easily accessible by bus. Looking for something different to do for the day before your next assignment is due? Visit the National Marine Aquarium which is the UK’s biggest aquarium and offers a discount for students. Plymouth is also home to Olympic sized swimming and diving pools for those who prefer the water with a bit less salt!
