Why Plymouth might be the best UK university town

As a vibrant seaside city, Plymouth is an exciting place to study and live in. Plymouth is also home to a wide range of venues showcasing the creative arts including the Theatre Royal Plymouth or The Box Plymouth, a major new museum, art gallery and archive for Plymouth and the South West.

Known as Britain’s Ocean City, there is of course plenty of sights and attractions in the great outdoors. The Plymouth Hoe offers stunning views out across the English Channel or just outside of the city is the Dartmoor National Park, perfect for a day of hiking. Plymouth is also not short of fantastic beaches nearby; Wembury and Bovisands are easily accessible by bus. Looking for something different to do for the day before your next assignment is due? Visit the National Marine Aquarium which is the UK’s biggest aquarium and offers a discount for students. Plymouth is also home to Olympic sized swimming and diving pools for those who prefer the water with a bit less salt!
